Testimonials

Below you will find testimonials from some of our dojo members, family, and friends.I want to thank these people for their kind words and the support they have given our dojo through the years.

-- Larry Keith DFCC Sensei --

"For several years it has been my pleasure to be a member of DFCC. In one way or another I have been involved in the martial arts since I was 17. My first experience was basic hand to hand training when I joined the army. This very limited exposure opened what I hope is a lifetime pursuit to making my self the very best person and martial artist I can be. When I was 19, I was stationed in the Philippines and started training at a modern Karate, Escrima and Kali School. For 3 years this became maybe one of the best training opportunities I could ever hope for. Then I was stationed in southern California and continued my training in Karate. After moving back to the Roseburg area I stared training in San Soo & Wing Chun Kung Fu. It was my pleasure to have a top instructor like Master Bob Shores to teach me Wing Chun Kung Fu, through whom I was able to test under Grand Master William Chung. Also because of Master Shores, I've been able to train under the likes of Tim Cartmell, a very well respected BJJ practitioner and several times a Master at various types of Kung Fu. To all of which I owe heart felt gratitude and respect.

Having been exposed to some very talented artists over the last 20 years I can say with out a doubt that Sensei Keith is the best instructor and DFCC is the best school it has been my privilege to be a part of. Sensei Keith has great patience, superb skills and maybe most importantly Heart Felt Passion about his art, his school, and his students. Other than spending time with his son and wife, there is no other place Sensei Keith would rather be than at the Dojo getting down and dirty with ANY of his students. There is no other place I would rather train at to be the best well rounded Martial Artist I can possibly be. From striking to grappling, from knockout to tap out, there are none better in southern Oregon than Sensei Larry Keith."

I am a traditional martial artist. I started my martial art training at age 14 in Judo obtaining the rank of 3rd level brown at age 18.. I have studied many martial arts in my 47 years of life and hold black belts in Tae Kwon do and Shotokan Karate-do.

I first met Keith Sensei in early 1990 and we have remained close friends and training partners all these years. Keith Sensei has a strong commitment to the technical aspects of the martial arts and is the very best Judoka I have had the pleasure of learning from.

Keith Sensei (a very large Scotsman), has never relied on strength to overcome an opponent but instead he relies on perfect technique and timing. I have learned from So many instructors in my time in the martial arts and Keith Sensei is my favorite thus far. His quality of instruction is unmatched by anyone. His lack of ego and his traditional dojo values make this local dojo a world class learning environment.

Some may think He just teaches MMA. This is not so. Some may think that he just teaches grappling. This is not so either. Keith Sensei held two blacks belt in striking arts before ever getting on the mat in Judo. I have taught traditional Kata technique from Shotokan Karate for over 20 years and my very best student was Larry Keith. He listens, he learns! The best students are often times the best instructors. This is truly the case with Keith Sensei. I appreciate all He has given me and all that is to come.

If you wish to train in a quality "dojo" and are not afraid of some serious hard work learning real world skills, and wish to have the best instruction, DFCC is for you.

Thank you Larry!!

I have trained under Sensei Larry Keith for well around two years; however, my martial arts background did not begin with DFCC. I have studied martial arts since I was about 8 years old. I have been exposed to many different styles and trainers here in the U.S. and have studied abroad for a short time.

I am a 1st Dan in Tae Kwon Do and a 2002 U.S. Gold Cup TKD champion. I currently train and will continue to train with DFCC because the level of instruction I receive is unmatched by any other facility I have trained with. I am unceasingly impressed with Sensei's quality of instruction, as well as the vast variety of training techniques he utilizes. I am always kept on my toes.

-- Nathan Beardsley --

I began training at DFCC in June 2005. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The first few months I was training, I trained a lot in the mornings due to my work schedule. Predominately there were only a few students that trained in the morning; Jake Stringer, Richie Semens, and myself. I am thankful for the few number of students that were in the a.m. classes because I feel that I benefited from the more exclusive one on one time I had with Keith Sensei.

I had no idea what I was doing my first few months there. I came from a successful high school wrestling career and I figured I would naturally take to this stuff. I was so wrong. It took a lot of intense work, going in 5 times a week sometimes twice a day to get past the "bad" habits that I had ingrained in me from my wrestling days, but Keith Sensei always had patience and made the learning and work fun. I owe so much to him and my training partners.

To me now, the things I have learned at the dojo are no longer just a hobby but are enriching my day to day life. It is a great school with a great instructor and great teammates. I have watched the Dojo grow in leaps and bounds, not necessarily in numbers of students but in skill and attitude level. It is truly a testament to Keith Sensei's training methods and leadership abilities.
